Notes and Updates on Migraine Headaches. Flipbooks as a Learning Resource
Abstract
Introduction: The teaching of Pharmacology in the medical sciences requires digital resources that favor the autonomous learning and thematic update. Migraine headaches are a relevant and multidisciplinary content, but their didactic treatment though interactive tools have been scarcely explored. Flipbooks offer interactivity, accessibility and multimedia design, although their specific explanation in this field has not been documented.
Objective: To design an interactive flipbook on migraine headaches and evaluate its quality, usability, interactivity and differentiating potential according to the perception of expert teachers in Pharmacology.
Method: Technological development research was performed at the University of Medical Sciences of Santiago de Cuba from July to December 2024. It was structured in two phases: 1) construction of the flipbook using the ADDIE institutional model and the FlopbookPDF.net platform, based on original contents developed by the authors; 2) evaluation of the resource by eight teachers with at least five years of experience in Pharmacology, selected by intentional sampling. A 12-item questionnaire, which was validated by three experts, was applied. Means, standard deviations, and frequencies were analyzed using SPSS v.21.
Results: The most valued dimension was usability, followed by the quality of the content, differentiator potential, and interactivity. In addition, 86% of teachers would recommend the resource. Qualitative suggestions aimed at incorporating interactive questionnaires and clinical cases.
Conclusions: The flipbook was perceived as an effective and attractive resource that is highly useful in the teaching of migraine headaches in Pharmacology. Its modular structure and visual design favor differentiated learning.
