Transforming Nursing: Artificial Intelligence in the Improvement of Care

Abstract

Introduction: Artificial intelligence has facilitated nursing practice by optimizing tasks such as measuring vital signs, drawing blood, and carrying out robot-assisted patient mobilization, thus reducing costs and benefiting both the health system and patients.
Objective: To analyze the transformation produced by artificial intelligence in the improvement of nursing practice.
Methods: A systematic bibliographic review was conducted over one year, following the PRISMA protocol and using the PICO model to structure the research question. PubMed, Hinari, SciELO and Medline databases were consulted without language restriction, using MeSH descriptors and free terms related to artificial intelligence, nursing and public health.  After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria and removing duplicates using Mendeley Desktop 1.19.4, a total of 42 relevant articles were selected for analysis.
Results: Artificial intelligence is a tool that facilitates nursing care in an innovative, modern, dynamic, humane and personalized manner by using technologies that enhance healthcare quality. It enables more precise and efficient interventions with active social participation.
Conclusions: Artificial intelligence can be used to improve disease diagnosis and detection, clinical care, research, drug development, and various nursing interventions such as disease surveillance, outbreak response, and health system management.
