AI-Generated Posters: A New Tool for the One Health Approach

Authors

Abstract

Introduction: Evidence indicates that few studies have explored the capabilities of using generative artificial intelligence for health promotion and disease prevention within the One Health approach.
Objective: To evaluate the capacities and economic feasibility of text and image generation models available in Microsoft Copilot for creating promotional and preventive posters aligned with the One Health approach.
Method: An observational, exploratory study with a mixed-methods design was conducted. Fifteen posters on One Health topics were generated and analyzed according to the Guidelines for the Evaluation of Visual Material proposed by the World Health Organization. To determine costs, internet time and data consumption were measured. Systematic observation was applied using a previously developed guide for qualitative analysis.
Results: Of the 15 images generated, 14 were useful—9 on the first attempt, 3 on the second, and the remainder required multiple interactions. The process took 2 hours and 30 minutes, with an approximate data consumption of 63 MB. The tool showed high correspondence between requests and images, and generated correct texts in most cases. Low ethnic diversity was observed in the content.
Conclusions: The Microsoft Copilot platform demonstrated both capabilities and economic feasibility for creating One Health posters, significantly reducing production time and costs. This makes it a valuable tool in resource-limited countries. Future research is needed to explore its environmental impact, social acceptance, and communication effectiveness.
