Evaluation of the Interoperability Model for Electronic Medical Records in Colombia According to Law 2015
Abstract
Amidst technological changes and escalating data consumption, this article addresses the necessity to evaluate and measure the impact of administrative process digitization and systematization on the healthcare sector. It explores the definition and significance of the clinical history as a legal and private document that compiles crucial patient health information. The research focuses on the implementation of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in Colombia, based on the Interoperability Guide and the Law 2015 of 2020. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in collaboration with international organizations, aims to achieve interoperability across diverse healthcare entities. However, technical challenges, professional perceptions, and privacy concerns are highlighted. The importance of risk identification and mechanisms to properly handle sensitive information is emphasized.
Keywords: electronic health record; interoperability; digital transformation; healthcare sector; disruptive technologies.
