Digital Competencies in Teachers from “Victoria de Girón” Faculty of Medical Sciences

Authors

Abstract

Digital teaching competence has gained great relevance, as it is a quality factor when implementing innovative teaching and learning processes with the use of information and communication technologies in the educational field. In Cuba, it has gained more relevance since the implementation of the Resolution No. 145/2023, which establishes regulations for the application of teaching categories in higher education. It encourages teachers to adapt to digital education in order to prevent technology-related stress, especially among older teachers who often show resistance to change due to lack of adequate training, generational differences, and challenges faced due to a lack of resources and support for the use of digital platforms. The objective of this work is to demonstrate the need for training at the “Victoria de Girón” Faculty of Medical Sciences, taking into account the teachers´ average age and the results obtained from the survey applied to all teachers who enrolled in the intensive online learning course in June 2024 and March 2025.
