Abstract

Introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) plays multiple important roles in adapting the learning process to meet the individual needs of students.
Objective: To determine the usefulness of AI in the teaching and learning processes of Research Methodology at the Mayarí Medical Sciences Branch and the Municipal University Center.
Method: A bibliographic search on AI in higher education was conducted in the SCielo, PubMed, Cochrane Plus, Scopus, ELSEVIER, and ClinicalKey databases in English and Spanish. Published literature was selected from 2022 to 2025. A survey was administered to 55 students from the Lidia Doce Sánchez Medical Sciences Branch and the Municipal University Center (CUM) in the municipality of Mayarí, Holguín province, and was used as the primary data collection instrument. Social workshops were held where the content was presented and questions were asked to encourage debate and the exchange of ideas, as well as to explore students' perceptions through their perspectives and criteria.
Results: The results show that 56.36% always use AI in Research Methodology classes, and 38.18% use it frequently. Text generators (ChatGPT 4.5 and Copilot) were the most commonly used tools in classes (76.36%). In addition, 89.09% considered AI to be very useful in learning.
Conclusions: The application of AI in teaching Research Methodology provides numerous benefits, such as task automation, personalization of the learning experience, and optimization of research efficiency.
