About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Cuban Journal of Medical and Health Informatics (RCIM) is an electronic journal that aims to disseminate the results of works related to Medical and Health Informatics, as well as other related specialties, prepared by teachers, researchers, professionals, technicians and postgraduate and undergraduate students, Cuban and foreign. It was created in 2001 at the Center for Applied Cybernetics in Medicine (CECAM) of the University of Medical Sciences of Havana (UCMH). It is aimed at the community that works in the field of medical and health informatics, to serve the purpose of scientific communication under the precepts of open science. It is sponsored by the UCMH and the Cuban Society of Medical Informatics (SOCIM).
National and international contributions are accepted free of charge, in Spanish and English, provided they follow the stipulated instructions.
Priority treatment is given to works of a theoretical, methodological, or practical nature whose dissemination contributes to their practical application or is of substantial use to readers.

The Editorial Committee of the RCIM, in accordance with both international and national standards, establishes the following methodological and technical guidelines that must be followed for the publication of articles.

Peer Review Process
Submitted articles undergo an open peer review process. The author is informed of decision once the review period is concluded.
The Editorial Committee has the final decision to publish the manuscript, regardless of the referees' decision.
Review Process: Once the manuscript is registered, it moves to the review or peer review process, which takes into account the following:
- The Editorial Committee is responsible for the review group or reviewers.
- The referees will adhere to the refereeing regulations adopted by the journal, based on the refereeing guidelines.
- Two specialized referees will be appointed based on the subject matter of the manuscript.
- Peer review will be conducted.
- If the referees disagree, a third will be appointed.
- A form will be used to outline the refereeing criteria and arguments. This constitutes the refereeing guide.
- The work must be evaluated and its results recorded in the designated space within 90 days.
Once the result is received, the referees' suggestions will be reconciled. The Editorial Committee will decide whether to accept the submission without restrictions, communicate observations and suggestions for reworking and further review, or reject it for further revision.
Recommendations to article authors are based on compliance with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication (Uniform Requirements) to improve the preparation of proposed materials with regard to quality and clarity of presentation.
Open Access Policy
Manuscript submission, processing, and publication are free of charge to authors. It also provides immediate free access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports greater global knowledge sharing.
